1966 VIETNAM SPECIAL FORCES, AIRBORNE PATCHES:  I think the SF and AB patches may be theater made as they seem crude to me.  The flag is probably not.  They are sewn to a piece of canvas that was cut from a "FLYER'S KIT BAG"  dated 1966.  That piece of canvas is also included. Early Vietnam War period pieces that may have been made In-Country.

4th MEDEVAC.  HELICOPTER GUNSHIPS, 4th AVIATION BATTALION, 4th INFANTRY:  I believe this patch to be Vietnam War period.  The patch material is blue ribbed (twill?).  It is the patch for the 4th Aviation Bn., 4th Infantry Division, "Helicopter Gunships".  Like all the others I see EXCEPT this one shows the Apache carrying a medical kit with a red cross on it in his left talon...thus medevac?  May have soiling.

509th SQUADRON, 351st BOMB GROUP, 8th AIR FORCE. FLIGHT JACKET PATCH:  The 509th has WW2 history from 1942-1945 and then inactivated.  Reactivated 1947 and again inactivated in 1948.  I believe it has a merrowed edge so I think this would be from the 1947-1948 period.  Nice large size for wearing on the A2 flight jacket.  Has some soiling and has been sewn on.
Item # pt1018005  $30.00

8th AIR FORCE MISSILE COMMAND:  I bought this from the estate of a retired USAF Officer who served in the 8th Air Force Missile Command so I am pretty sure it is authentic.  He retired in around 1970 or later.  It may be foreign made as the embroidery work is a little sloppy.  It has never been sewn on anything.
